Quantitative prediction of effective conductivity in anisotropic heterogeneous media using two-point correlation functions

چکیده
Statistical continuum approach is used to predict effective conductivity of anisotropic random porous heterogeneous media using twopoint correlation functions. Probability functions play a critical role in describing the statistical distribution of different constituents in a heterogeneous media. In this study a three-dimensional two-point correlation function is utilized to characterize the anisotropic media without making any assumption on the microstructure. Examples in this study demonstrated how the model captured the anisotropy in effective conductivity of the random heterogeneous media. Predicted results showed the influence of microstructure on the effective conductivity tensor. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Random heterogeneous media: Hicrosttucture and improwed bounds on effective properties
The purpose of the present article is to review recent advances made in the determination and calculation of improved bounds on the effective properties of random heterogeneous media that depend upon the microstructure via n-point correlation functions. New breakthroughs made in the quantitative characterization of the microstructure of heterogeneous materials are also reviewed. The following f...
متن کاملSolution of Harmonic Problems with Weak Singularities Using Equilibrated Basis Functions in Finite Element Method
In this paper, Equilibrated Singular Basis Functions (EqSBFs) are implemented in the framework of the Finite Element Method (FEM), which can approximately satisfy the harmonic PDE in homogeneous and heterogeneous media. EqSBFs are able to automatically reproduce the terms consistent with the singularity order in the vicinity of the singular point. The newly made bases are used as the compliment...
متن کاملConstitutive Model for Multi-laminate Induced Anisotropic Double Hardening Elastic-plasticity of Sand
A constitutive multi-laminate based elastic-plastic model developed to be capable of accounting induced anisotropic behavior of granular material such as sand. The fabric feature or grain orientation characteristic effects through medium are considered in a rational way under any complex stress path, including cyclic loading. The salient feature of the developed model is a non-associative on pl...
متن کاملDispersion of Torsional Surface Wave in a Pre-Stressed Heterogeneous Layer Sandwiched Between Anisotropic Porous Half-Spaces Under Gravity
The study of surface waves in a layered media has their viable application in geophysical prospecting. This paper presents an analytical study on the dispersion of torsional surface wave in a pre-stressed heterogeneous layer sandwiched between a pre-stressed anisotropic porous semi-infinite medium and gravitating anisotropic porous half-space. The non-homogeneity within the intermediate layer a...
متن کاملModeling heterogeneous materials via two-point correlation functions. II. Algorithmic details and applications.
In the first part of this series of two papers, we proposed a theoretical formalism that enables one to model and categorize heterogeneous materials (media) via two-point correlation functions S(2) and introduced an efficient heterogeneous-medium (re)construction algorithm called the "lattice-point" algorithm. Here we discuss the algorithmic details of the lattice-point procedure and an algorit...
